Beware of the zephyr

Thanks to all who came along to our somewhat shambolic set at Nektar. Cheers to Lyn for playing some great music.

Your next opportunity to see us doing our folky thing is a Baby Tiger gig on Friday 16 September at the Caledonian Backpackers, playing in support of The Zephyrs. It's been years since I've seen them - I'm looking forward to sharing a stage with them and hearing their new line-up.

Hope y'all can make it.

Tiger, Tiger, Hummingbird

Greetings readers.

Thanks to SL Records and Baby Tiger for putting us on at short notice earlier in the week.

Your next chance to see The Folk in action is 23 August at Nektar on the Cowgate. Other bands to be confirmed, but may include Ally Kerr's band and a solo set from Damon Thompson. Expect the sounds of Donovan and Drake from Damon's guitar, and Morrisey (amongst others) from his vocal chords.

Hope you can make it.

Tigerfest Gig

The Folk will be playing a Tigerfest gig on Thursday 11 August at the Wee Red Bar. It's an SL Records night, but we're filling in because a couple of bands can't make it. More details on the Tigerfest webpage at http://tigerfest.baby-tiger.net/gig_details.php?gig_id=108.

New Folk Required

The Folk are looking for new musicians. Wind and string players particularly welcome, as are keyboard and theremin players. We plan to record some of the Gadgee's songs over the next few months. We'd also like to have more people playing with us live. If you're interested, get in touch at thefolk@thefolk.co.uk.

Folk fans, I thank you!

Thanks to all who came along to see us on the 23rd. The Folk certainly enjoyed their debut public performance. Thanks to St. Jude's Infirmary for asking us to play, and to Ashley from St. Jude's for joining us to play guitar and sing.

In case you spot one of us and want to hand over cash, orchestral scores, or chocolate martinis, I've added a couple of photos from the gig.

For a somewhat odd review, see the People's Republic of Leith website. See also St. Jude's four star review in The Scotsman. Expect to see a single from them in the autumn, and their much-awaited album in January next year.
